The term gained significance during the time shared by the two founders while working together at an Italian tailoring house, where they developed a passionate love for high-quality craftsmanship and exclusive fabrics. The evolution of these passions, combined with a strong connection to Latin culture, led to the pursuit of redefining elegance through a Latin lens.

The word "quintopiano" (fifth floor in Italian) was mentioned several times a day during their work routine, as it was how clients were informed of the floor where the Atelier was located. Interestingly, the word "piano" in Italian carries five (quinto) different meanings: Slow, Flat, Floor, Plan, and Piano. The latter, the European instrument, plays one of the most iconic rhythms of Latin America and a cornerstone of the brand's identity, Salsa. The dual meaning of the word in both Italian and Spanish reflects the concept of merging two worlds.

Quintopiano's garments are designed to improve with time, mirroring the aging process in humans. In Spanish, "Quintopiano" translates to being in one’s fifties, symbolizing wisdom, emancipation, and the appreciation of imperfections for a deeper, more charming beauty.
